Blue sky and sun aplenty to be had recently this winter in Arisaig. Although there is little ice in the village the surrounding Roshven Hills and the tops on Skye Eigg and Rhum have had full snow. There have been spectacular sunsets to complete perfect winter days.
About The Area
Offering a rare opportunity for centrally located self-catering accommodation in Arisaig, Ashbrae Cottage delivers on a fantastic location, stunning views and a quality holiday rental. Located on the Road To The Isles, this is an area celebrated for it’s outstanding natural beauty. Explore the area around Arisaig, and take time out to visit the Knoydart Peninsula and Skye, as well as Ardnamurchan. There are breathtaking coastal views , pristine white beaches, machair and stunning mountain backdrops all around. Arisaig bay looks over to the silhouettes of the inner Hebridean islands of Rum, Eigg & the jagged Cuillin of Skye. There are few more beautiful settings to enjoy a break from the stresses of everyday life. View seals, otters, golden eagles, dolphins and sometimes whales within an area rich with wildlife.
Centrally located within this quiet village setting, Ashbrae Cottage is within a few short strides from the marina, village shop and post office. Tasty bar lunches and dinners can be enjoyed at the reputable Arisaig Hotel, and inexpensive and relaxed fine dining is order of the day at the Old Library Inn. Both come highly recommended. Expect to find hand dived scallops and fresh seafood ‘catch of the day’ on every menu.
The Crofters Rest Bar, within the Arisaig Hotel, is a friendly and lively pub filled with both locals and tourists enjoying a drink at the bar, or outside on the decking area. There is live traditional fiddle music on Friday nights and a wide selection of Scottish whisky and beers on offer. All of the above are a pleasant meander from the front door of Ashbrae Cottage!
Ashbrae Cottage really is in the perfect location. It serves as the ideal base to explore the local beaches and countryside while still enjoying the social benefits of a drink in the local pub and a meal out.
The train station is only a 10 minute walk from the front door, and during the summer months the Harry Potter steam train passes en route to Mallaig.
